USS Carl Vinson - West Pac Tour
USS Kitty Hawk Aug 06
Once again it was good to see the Us Navy men and women visit our shores.
It was good to see some old faces re-visit Tattoo Affair and a few new ones who left the studio more than happy, not just with quality but price. We prefer to be here working than sitting doing nothing and in the current climate most studios are out pricing themselves in search for the big money, however that said don’t forget that the price also varies according to the standard and experience of the artist. Not everyone will be happy with the prices they get in every studio but we do Endeavour to keep as many as possible more then satisfied.
This bunch of young men and women were extremely polite and respectful and a pleasure to do business with but due to some current USS Navy regulations I cannot name them or show their faces in photo’s
We have heard conflicting reasons as to why the US Navy is placing studios off limits it is hard to try to find a reason why they would do this, most studio’s here in Perth are well aware of the Navy’s very dim view of sailors getting tattoo’s above their collar and on their hands you will always find some one to do this for a huge price we will Not Tattoo these areas, the request for this practice is diminishing but we do still get the odd request.
So to all you sailor’s men and women wherever your duty takes you stay safe and kick ass.
All the best from AJ, Shane and Jessica at Tattoo Affair.
Health Practice
For some unknown reason the American Navy has a practice now of putting all tattoo Studio's off limits effectively banning centuries of tradition.
When we enquired as to the reason behind their decision we were informed that it was because our government had informed them that No tattoo or Piercing Studios were up to standard.
Tattoo Affair complies with the current Skin Penetration Act as written by our Government Health department and is regularly inspected by the Perth City Council Health Surveyor.
We use only Single use pre sterilized needles and color. All the equipment used in the procedure is individually opened in front of each client.
We pride ourselves on our standard of hygiene in this studio and the quality of work that is performed, we believe in quality not quantity which is why when the Navy visits you will not find 6-12 tattoo Artists working in this studio.
We have made Tattoo's more affordable as they are a want not a need, and most studio's are out pricing some of their work.
If our government is so worried about the health practices of certain places then they need to take a good look at some of our hospitals. My father in law was in the emergency room at Fremantle hospital where we watched a guy bleeding all over the floor for the 3 hrs we stayed with my father in-law the blood stayed on the floor not being cleaned up.
Being ex military my self you do not get to question the decisions made by the people in power, but they can't stop you wondering about the rationale for making such decisions.
I personally invite any person in authority in each and every West-Pac tour to inspect our premises to see first hand our standard and code of practice.
We at tattoo Affair hope all you sailor's male and female stay safe where ever your duty takes you.

USS KITTY HAWK
WEST PAC TOUR
APRIL 2004
It was a long time between visits from the American fleets and again it was good to see some familiar faces from the Kitty Hawk and some new ones.
The sailors from the Kitty Hawk certainly kept us busy.
Once again Bev Robinson was over from Melbourne to help out and this time brought KD from Stray Catz Tattooing and Piercing also based in Melbourne.
At least this time we managed to stop Bev from feeding the bloody seagulls and pigeons from the window.
Whenever the fleets arrive in future we will be able to offer Body Piercing at Perth's Cheapest Prices. Our Jewelry is already the cheapest in Perth.
So we hope to see some of the new faces we met this time and again some of the old when the Kitty Hawk returns to Western Australia and we thank you for your business.

USS CARL VINSON WEST PAC TOUR
JUNE 2003
It was good to finally have Bev Robinson from Moving Pictures in Williamstown Victoria and the wizard of freehand Fran Cumptson from the Tattoo Gallery in Adelaide South Australia working albeit very briefly at Tattoo Affair for this tour of American Sailors.
The tour was rather quiet compared to other tours even in comparison to previous tours made by this battle group; it was refreshing though to have sailors return for more work that were in the studio in 1999.
We have secured the services of both of these very talented artists for future visits by the American Navy. As owner of the studio I have been more conscious of the quality of work that leaves Tattoo Affair and not the quantity and these two brilliant artists certainly provide the visiting sailors with excellent quality.
We have tried to advertise to the visiting fleets that we do not have set closing times for there visits as we try to make as many of them as happy as we can and endeavor to do every Tattoo we can no matter what time of day or night, we also let the sailors eat and drink in the studio as long as the studio is respected, although we will not Tattoo drunks.
You have to feel sorry for the sailor who had not read our fliers waiving certain rules for them when he walked into the studio with his just bought Pizza and read the sign No Food or Drink In The Studio,
Bev who has this habit of feeding every stray bird in the bloody city on the roof out of the studio window was asked by this poor guy where he should put his Pizza,Bev said she would show him and promptly relieved this poor guy of the Pizza and threw the lot out for the birds. No wonder that group of sailors left, sorry guys Bev did not know.
Thanks Richard for the brilliant photo’s you emailed to me I will be getting enlargements made and will now start doing framed sets from all visiting battegroups for the studio.
I would also like to thank Hailey and Nicole for coming and helping at the front desk when we needed them, this was Hailey’s first time and was lucky it wasn’t as hectic as normal; Nic has proved before she is more than capable of handling the front desk when things get hectic so thank you both.
So until myself AJ, Bev and Fran see you all again Take Care.
